Each time you receive a mammogram, you are entitled to the following rights:

To be treated with dignity and respect.

To not be denied service or discriminated against
solely because you do not have a referring physician.

To discuss any radiation concerns you may have with the
responsible physician and/or technologist.

To be told, upon request, the amount of radiation
exposure you will receive.

To receive a written statement about your test results
and any necessary follow up directly from the mammography center within 30 days of the
mammogram.

To discuss your results with a physician.
-
To see and copy your medical records.
-
To be informed when scheduling an appointment that, if
you are changing mammography centers, you should have your most recent
mammogram sent to the center or bring it with you.

To borrow, copy, or permanently remove original
mammograms.

To be given the name, address, and phone number of the
Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program in
case you wish to make a complaint.

To obtain educational materials on breast cancer risk
factors, symptoms, breast self-exams, mammography, and recommended timing for your
next mammogram.

To have these rights visibly posted at the facility
where you receive your mammogram.

To have these rights and educational materials
available to you in clear, easy-to understand language or in alternative formats.
